David and Christine
Posted by tam on September 18th, 2008 filed in Family, PrayerI think we are coming to end of a couple of weeks of biting nails to the nubbins and sore knees from being on the ground so much talking to the Lord.
David was deployed last week to Houston just before Ike came ashore. He was detailed to fill in for the folks who work there permanently who needed to take care of there families and homes. Ike came ashore on Saturday morning September 20th. I stayed up Friday night into Saturday morning watching the weathercasters being pelted by sideways rain and high winds to see how my son was fairing.
They (the hotel he is staying at) lost power late Friday evening and were without it for four days. He has been spending his time between the terminal at Hobbie airport and handing out food and water to people without it in the Houston area.
While I have been concerned for his safety, I know that God has it all under control. Frankly, David is my hero and I am very proud of the risks he took and the role he is playing in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike.
David is hopeful to return home on Saturday (9/27/08). I know Christine (his wife) will be happy to have him home again.
The day he left for Houston she had to have an MRI done due to a possible tumor on her pituitary gland. Praise the Lord it came back and revealed no tumor.
Dave and I have been helping the kids out by taking out there dogs while Christine is working ten hour shifts.
We are all looking forward to his return home.
Have gotten word that my Aunt Lois is in ICU and they found another cancerous tumor in her throat which is making it hard for her to breathe. They have once again called in the family. Aunt Lois is my Dad’s younger sister. She has been battling cancer for over a year now. Unfortunately, I have not seen much of my aunt for many, many years. The last time was at my Dad’s funeral in 1995.
If you think of it, please keep Aunt Lois, Uncle Dave, Dave, Kim, Mark, and Chuck in your prayers. Also keep Houston, Galveston, and all areas affected by Ike lifted up.
Praise God who hears and answers our prayers.
Blessings -
Tam
